Hi All,

Lots happening at the moment, and 'Top Gear' is on the telly tonight, so I will get straight into it.....

New Member - David Quinlivan joins our chapter. Apparently Pommie Pete convinced him that we are decent bunch of guys/gals and he is looking forward to joining us for a few events during the year. Looking forward to Davids' company on the training rides and sportif events when time permits, his email address davidq@quinco.com.au has been added to the list of contacts.

Cycling Tops - Contact his been made with the Sportif clothing supplier 'Sprint Design' in Willeton. Penny and I are going to check out, designs, colours etc. and discuss artwork tomorrow morning (Tues.) It may be possible for us to get sample tops for sizing, they will probably be unisex tops to cater for the girls and those of us with man-boobs.

The decision to go with the 'delux' tops rather than the 'budget' was made after some kind donations from sponsors i.e.
$200 via Jen (Lakes Optical - gratis, no logo required)
$500 via Pen (Range Products)
$1000 via David (Skippers)

A big thank you from everyone.

I have also been collecting $100 from the team riders as a sign of commitment. Surplus funds can possibly be spent on cycling knicks, race fees or a night of debauchery after an event.

Events - The first two events are now detailed on the cyclosportif website.

Freeway ride - Sunday 22nd March. www.freewaybikehike.com.au

Basically all rides finish at Joondalup you choose where you start:-

Kwinana 60k's + 30k's = 90k's - 7.30-8.00am start

Belmont Racecourse = 30k's - 8.30-9.00am Start

As mentioned in emails, we need a meeting. Entries close 13 March.
Might I suggest doing the 30 k's, riding to the start, and riding home/or getting a lift depending on fitness. What do you reckon?

Margaret River - 4th April Saturday around 1.30pm start.

You can nominate to do 1 lap 33 k's
2 laps 66k's
3 laps 99k's - managing to follow this?

I know a few people are going to see 'The Who' concert but we may get enough riders, especially with the news that Shay can possibly get accomodation in Augusta. Plus another big bonus is that the course is 'mildly undulating' which appeals to me!

Team Managers Meeting - It is important for someone to go to the Sportif Team Managers meeting - Tues. 10th March, 6.30-8.30pm Mosman Park Golf club. I cannot make it. I have approached Shay and she is a possibility - anyone else?

Team Members Meeting - Can we all meet Wed. evening 11th March? Can use my place or Kalamunda Hotel or open to suggestions. RSVP

Seen around - Pommie Pete finally got permission from his wife, Philipa, to shave his legs with the condition that he only shaves from his ankle up to the bottom of his shorts. Which meant that when he visited Swanbourne Beach last week he was thought to be wearing a pair of mohair boardies and got thrown off! Picture that!!

NB  Opposite are pictures of George's new road side collection bike - cost so far $2.50 for degreaser and two AA batteries - not as nice as Julie's new one put quite a find!!

Cheers all, Kev
