The Shire of Kalamunda has many first class walks available. These range from short 5km walks to the world famous Bibbulmun Track walk. Maps of the walks are available from the Shire offices on Canning Road.

The Bibbulmun Track is a world class walking trail starting in Kalamunda and finishing in Esperance in the states south west.

Bartons Walk.

Distance - 5kms. Walking Time 1 hour (approx). This is an easy walk starting about 9kms down Pickering Brook Road.

Helena PipeHead Walk.

Distance - 5kms. Walking Time 1.5 hours (approx). Please keep to the track. This walk is in the Water Catchment Area.

Darling Escarpment Walk.

Distance - 3 possible routes available. Depending on route chosen, about 2-3kms for circular walks and about 4 kms for the one way walk.

Walking Time - For the casual walker about 1.5 - 2 hours (circular walks)

Munday Brook Walk.

Distance - 10kms. Walking Time - Allow 2 - 2.5 hours. The Water Authority of W.A. has allowed this walk as long as walkers avoid any damage to vegetation, remove any rubbish and avoid any contact with directly flowing water. Munday Brook flows into the Victoria Reservoir which is part of the Metropolitan Water Supply.

Piesse Brook – Night Walk

November
6pm to 8pm
This walk will concentrate on fauna living within the bushland surrounding
Piesse Brook in the Kalamunda National Park, especially those species that
are active at night. Meet at the end of Schippe Rd at the entrance to
Kalamunda National Park in Piesse Brook.
All guides have considerable experience and expertise in the study of the
regions flora and fauna. All are welcome. Please wear sturdy walking shoes
or boots and bring your own drink, hat, raincoat, torch etc. A gold coin donation
to the Wildflower Society would be kindly appreciated. For further details

Wildflower Walks

The Shire of Kalamunda in association with the Darling Range Branch of the
Wildflower Society, and the Nature Reserves Preservation Group are proud to
present the 2004 series of guided environmental walks.
Maida Vale Reserve
September
9am til 11am
This walk will concentrate on the beautiful floristic community of the sands on
the eastern Swan Coastal Plain. Meet at the entrance to the Archery Club
off Ridge Hill Rd, Maida Vale.

Zig Zag Walk

First Sunday in October
9am, 10am, 11am
Join in the fun of the Zig Zag Walk and enjoy a fauna/flora walk starting from
the "Kalamunda Wild About Wildflowers" tent, at the second station along Zig
Zag Scenic Drive. Walks will leave on the hour and go for 30min. Refer to
future Zig Zag Walk adverts or contact the Shire for parking and access
information.
