Working Theory

One man's life work is another man's waste of time…

The Researcher is in final editing for his documentary on "Why people do the jobs they do?" Replaying the scenes in his video suite, he makes notes on the decisions of his subjects, proving his theory that people's jobs and their belongings are pointless. They spend so much time working in jobs they don't like and spending money on stuff they don't need.

Working Theory is a black comedy following The Researcher through these last steps in his documentary. Opposing his theory, The Janitor works in close proximity with the Researcher and takes every opportunity to assess his progress and discovers new reasons behind the documentary after uncovering hidden scenes.

Kalamunda Youth Theatre Company presents Working Theory, the winning production for the 2007 Pitch Project. Daniel Donnelly's debut as a writer and directed by James Fletcher, Working Theory includes serious and surreal working place scenarios and an alternative ending to keep the audience intrigued.
